That’s the way a friend of mine starts his faith story when sharing it with a student. It’s the type of opening line that makes you want to hear the rest of the story, am I right?
In blogging, the number one thing you want is for people to actually engage with your content. So ask yourself as you post something, “If I were a visitor to my site, would I be interested enough in this to read the whole thing?” If the answer is no or maybe, trim or otherwise edit the post until it’s something interesting.
Don’t tell me a truth. Tell me a story that helps me to experience a truth.
Additionally, many of my posts are just a picture, with a caption. After all, they tell a story far better than I could, and they train my readers to expect something to see and chew on, without any significant time commitment.
In each of your posts, try like my friend to capture your reader’s attention in the first few words. Most of the time, that’s all you’ve got.
